I don't know guys, these look like a really good deal. I wouldn't mind be seeing with one of the P90 versions, I think they look really cool, especially with the faux binding.I don't like the look of the standard one on the site though. The unique necks refer to the profile, so it's just not a cookie cutter CNC neck. These P90 ones have a 50's neck shape which should be rather comfortable. I would love to try one of these and as it will be less than 10K to get one here, it's pretty damn tempting. I'm not going to argue if they only want 850 for it 8) It could be one fo the cases where they sell really well and then get a price hike.

I was just having a little cynical larf on a Friday.

I've been this way for a long time. Some years ago I saw building site next to a mosquito-infested stinking vlei. I started fantasising about the developer's brochure which would be full of nonsense about "exclusive views over a lush wetland environment".

I'd have thought my post was sufficiently OTT to be spotted for what it is. Clearly it's a poor effort.

Other than that I have no opinion about these guitars, but I tend to take marketing material with a pinch of salt.

There's a Dilbert cartoon which has Dilbert running into the boss's office and screaming "Old Bob just fell into the minestrone vat." The boss says "relabel all the cans in that run 'chunky classic'."

The thing I've always disliked about Studios is the lack of binding - IMO, clearly only to distinguish them from the otherwise identical standard models.

I like those new finishes, but the lack of binding messes up the look of a carved top Les Paul for me. If you can have it on an Epiphone, then why not on a sub-$1,000 Gibson Les Paul?

Looks like a pretty good deal to me. As for it being poor quality or 2nds ... anyone seen LP Standard or Classics lately? How much poorer or more 2nd can they get?

Not to mention that the 50s models we all love were never standardised and produced from a cookie cutter? I mean tele shapes varied from one to the next because they were made by people, also strat shapes vary like anything until the mid 60s. I'm pretty sure Gibson is no different. In fact, I'd actually love to have my pick of these, more variance means more chance of getting a REALLY nice guitar (Ok and more chance of getting an extra crap one, but yea)

i like it, especially in the white with the p90's.

i would like to get my hands on one and play it,
i mean my epi les paul custom really isnt bad at all. how much better or worse could this one be?
