That's such a bummer. Not just the hardware but the records of those special moments, not to mention the promotional materials.

I have thought about backing up offsite, might be the way to go!
Once a month make backups and store at Family or Friends or even at work!

Well I will back up religiously from now on. That is once I have replaced the computer. We have dogs inside and outside the house to prevent this but I suppose you'd have to be able to think like a criminal to stop one. That puts comparitively good people pretty low on the food chain... :'(

Really unfortunate Conrad. Sorry to hear. Especially about the photographs.

Can I please use Conrad's loss to recommend that anyone who's recording all their memories exclusively on digital make prints from time to time? I'm seriously worried about the number of people who find that their photos have vanished in 20 years time and they have fewer than even their grandparents had. You can back up 'til the cows come home but there's always a possibility that some gap occurs at some point. So making a few prints is a good extra precaution.

With film there's always the risk of fire. But with digital, pictures can just disappear without you even noticing.
