right so as with many of my questions this has probably been asked before, but here goes anyway
ive been trying to combine my DS-2 and my ancient fuzz pedal to get an in between distortion but all im getting is feedback , and not the nice kind, the same goes for when i use the overdrive channel on my amp.
is there a way to get those tones without having to put the volume at 0.5.
PS. When i say the fuzz pedal is ancient i mean it, (was made in the 60's) Only has a gain and volume pot
cool your help as all ways is greatly appreciated

First thing is you've got to figure out is if it's the guitar feeding back (in which case only better pickups will help) or an oscillation in the fuzz circuit (I doubt it's the Boss). If you're getting the feedback with the amp cranked and no other effects are plugged in, it's the pickups which are microphonic - you'll probably be able to tap the pickups with your finger and hear it thump through the amp too.
If it's an electronic type squeal, it's likely the fuzz circuit. Many old fuzz boxes are very reactive depending on what they are plugged into. So you might have to get someone like Matta to look at it to see if they can fix/improve the circuit (or simply find yourself another fuzz that doesn't misbehave).
