oook! I've got some cash, just a little bit, and I want a new guitar NOW.
I'm looking for a lower range 'cheap' guitar suited for metal, does not have to sound good for anything else.
I've narrowed my options down to:
Cort X2 (R1600) H-H
Ibanez GRX20 (R 1,311.00) H-H
Ibanez GRG170DXCA (1,436.00) H-S-H
I intend to play mostly music similar to Amon Amarth, Children of Bodom, Lamb of God etc.
Right now, I'm leaning towards an Ibanez, to save a few bucks so I will have enough left over for a decent insrument cable/effects pedal or food.
I need to decide by monday, before muz.co.za decides to not give me a special offer on the X2 (now costs R1995)

I know I am going to get what I pay for, so I'm probably going to get just that - a budget guitar with budget quality.
I would just like reccomendations as to which one would be the least waste of money, basically, who do I trust more; Ibanez or Cort?

The Ibanez GRG170DX and some food. ?
The GRG and the X2 are about the same specs, but the GRG is a lower price. Ibanez on the headstock will also hold it's value better - of course, that also means if you hang on to the money and look around for a bit, you'll probably be able to pick up a better Cort for a decent price on Gumtree or MusicAds.
Forget the GRX - much less of a guitar then either of the others.

Yeah, I just noticed that....now....how do I ensure I actually recieve it after paying, since I live nowhere near there....? :/

It's often the risk you take, but if you contact the guy get contact numbers and address, verify the numbers.
Maybe another forum member who lives around the N suburbs of CT would act as a middleman for you? No harm in asking.
Speak to your bank, but I think if you pay into their account with a cheque, you can always cancel the cheque if you don't get it within three days (which is how long a courier would take).

Hrm...I'll sleep on it and do some more reading, that Cort X6 deal looks very tasty, especially with the ESP LTD pickup.....thanks for the help!

I'd go for the GRG...Personally, for metal all rg guitars are awesome..
Jethro
And that I did, bought the grg170dx ?

And there, just to help you decide, I was gonna choose the GRX as it's the closest option to getting the sound of the bands you mentioned (in a guitar), But it doesn't mean that if you get that specific guitar it will make you sound like them ?
Amon Amarth - Gibson explorers, les pauls > EMG's
Children of Bodom - ESP signature > SD Blackouts
Lamb Of God - Framus > SD's, Jackson > SD's, ESP > EMG
A guitar wont make you sound like another band, it's the amp you plug into and the fingers attached to your hand. ?
I tell alot of my clients that come in asking for *insert cool band name here*'s sound that you can plug a 50 k guitar into a zoom pedal into a marshall MG combo clean channel and it will sound like dirt compared to a 1k guitar into a 12-18k guitar tube amp.
It's kind of the same as putting a good driver in a mini against a someone who can barely drive in a F1 car and see who wins.
Anyway, I'll continue my point/rant in another thread before I go off topic :-[

I have the GRG170DXCA(In lime green nogals ? ) and I love it to death.
I wouldn't trade it for the world

Reading about them aint gonna help you at ALL!!! What you NEED to do is go thru 2 a good guitar shop and try them all out with the closest amp and FX to your setup. Hear for yourself, as none of our opinions will ever matter as much as your own.
Edit: So how's it sound?
