...was it a squier jagmaster?

I saw Albert Frost playing recently...and he had a strat and another
guitar I couldn't quite identify. I think the headstock had a Squier
decal, and it looked like a jazzmaster/jagmaster

but different pickups...and...the body finish definitely wasn't
out of the options I can see in the online catalog.

Does anybody know what this guitar is? Just curious...

I've long been intrigued by the idea of fender-w-humbuckers for
a bit darker/jazzier sound....although I'll stick with my much
loved squier strat for meanwhile. I'd have to find something
I really loved to replace it.

Maybe it was a jags tang?
Its like a cross between a mustang and a jaguar...
Was suppose to be co bane's sit. model,but then he went and died,but fender actually made a couple...

Could also be a Sauer 51' its a cross between a stray and a tells...has a humbles at the bridge and a tells style neck pickup....

there are a few squire jagmasters around. They are however CRAP in my opinion, worth a good throw or two.
Actual Fender Mustangs are great however, as well as jags and Jazzmasters. Not so much the Mex Classic player Jags and Jazzmasters they feel a bit cheap to me :/

...the other notable bit of gear (abuse) I saw up at Splashy was from
a PE group called Jackrabbit Slim. Really good guitar player in the
blues/SRV/Hendrix mould.

Anyway...at one point in the act, he swapped his strat for a squier
strat. Then there was a power failure & while we were waiting for
the standby generator, I asked him why he switched guitars for
Purple Haze. "Oh, that's just my knock-around guitar...but I have
trouble keeping it in tune."

Well, the act starts up again...he plays Fire and then straight
into Voodoo Chile to end off...yeah, lots of feedback, yadda yadda
and then...he throws the thing about 8 feet up and lets it
fall on the stage...whanggggggg!!! Still feeding back like
crazy, he pulls out some lighter fluid, sets the thing on fire
and starts waving it around like a torch holding onto the headstock.
The flames eventually go out, he starts playing it again...and
then ends off by throwing it up into the air again and letting
it hit the stage.

OK...dude...I think I have some insight into your tuning problems.
And...no, I don't think much of that kind of showmanship, but
I'm impressed that this squier can continue taking this kind of
abuse and still be totally playable (I mean, he's had this same
guitar for years).

...and it does look like a squier jagmaster. I thought the
p/ups were soapbar w. chrome covers, but I could be
mistaken. Had a huge/ballsy sound, and he was playing through
a fender amp...

thats so wrong that he thought he would pull a hendrix.... I think thats lame........ Biffy clyro did it at Reading once and it was the dumbest thing ever

I got a Jagmaster recently, and its definitely not crap. But with most budget models, I guess it comes down to the actual guitar you pick up.
