singemonkey Here's why: Amplitube has surged ahead of the pack recently in terms of sound quality. Amplitube Fender is amazing, and Amplitube 3 appears to offer the same quality but covering an insane amount of gear. I've seen a head to head video with Guitar Rig 4 and it seemed a clear winner imo - and that of most reviews I've read. PRS had a phone amp sim recently, but the reviews were less than stellar. This looks like a great feature for iphone owners (added to the fact that you can get a strobe tuner for your iphone). If the amps are as good as the Amplitube Fender amps, this would be the portable practise device.
ezietsman From the vid that looks like the ultimate mobile guitar tool and the cool soundtrack they play suggests you'll get that kind of tone from it. On the other hand, an Iphone is stupidly expensive and restrictive like only an Apple product can be so a dedicated device could be a more efficient use of money. I wonder what this would sound like?
singemonkey @ezietsman: spot on. If I bought, I'd definitely buy second-hand. The new prices are stupid. maybe they'll come up with an Android version - although I think IKMultimedia is very canny about its partnerships and will probably stick where the money is. If the tone matches their latest efforts with Amplitube Fender, it'd be a great tool.
Muhammad The battery life on an iphone is so poor that this app is pointless unless your near a wall socket. Expect a 10 to 20 percent battery drain in 15minutes. The iphone is the greatest piece of software ever, in the worst hardware. My iphone's wifi packed up after just 8months. Now the 3g radio gs packing up. The plastic cover is cracking and the metal rim pinches my stubble when i hold it to my ear. Oh and itunes is terrible, picky as hell. It once deleted my contacts because i happened to sync my phone on my laptop! Finicky stupid program. Thanks apple, you wont be getting my money agai
Jack-Flash-Jr Don't go iphone, colleague has one and never ending hardware problems like Muhammad says. I always though a pignose was the best portable practise device out there... you could always pick your tone and go for those mini amps that sit in your output jack...
killafo I have an iPhone and was thinking of getting this. Then it dawned on me, if you use this for a live gig and someone calls you........then what?!?!? ??? ???
