nick So most have read about my recent amp issues with my Classic 30. All is sorted now, I have a new set of matched EL84 JJ's in. Only problem being now is tube rattle which is thee most horrible sound. Strangely I never had the issue with the Sovteks and I have two spare Sovtek valves and if I swop two JJ's out for two Sovteks the rattle is almost non-existant.. Any ideas on how I can fix it? If I pull out a JJ and shake it lightly I can hear a rattle, almost like a filament of an incandescent bulb ☹

nick Have somewhat of a solution for now, I saw on another forum that Peavey put a piece of high density sponge inside the tube cage to press the tubes up. After testing how hot the tip of the tubes get I was quite suprised to find they are barely warm (say compared to the side of the tube) Ive now used some high density foam and the rattle is far less and it hasnt caught fire yet ?
nicovlogg I've heard that some rattle might also be coming from the cab itself. Apparently there's some kind of sound deadening foam used in cars that works for this?
Gearhead No. The foam dampens moving air, tube rattle usually comes from vibration being transmitted through the cab. You're not going to stop a 1kg panel with a 25g foam plate. You could with lead bitumen, but you'd better get a team of roadies. BTW the tube rattle on my Studio King went away after a while...
