I have the opportunity to trade my: ibanez RG 7321 / 7 string / fixed bridge for a squier deluxe hot rails strat (made in indonesia). Would you say this is a good trade???anything i should know about squiers???? i DO own a american strat already but would like another strat ? as I never use the 7 string anymore.

Have you tried to flog it in the classifieds here? I'd just be leery of buying any beginner's guitars once I have even one pro-quality instrument. I did it once and was bitterly frustrated with it. Unless, of course it was something weird and wonderful that I wouldn't normally be prepared to spend big money on - like a 12 string electric. There are so many fantastic guitars you could get for around the R2,500 mark that are sitting unused in someone's bedroom - a mid-range Pacifica, an 80's Charvel. And you save up a little more and you could get an MIM Strat.

But if you're sold on the idea, it's not like you'll suffer bitter regrets. It's not really a huge deal with vast sums of money involved.

Good points both - and the Pacifica's a very good idea if you want a cheaper guitar to upgrade that'll also kick a standard Squier's backside. Guitarist magazine ran an interesting article a few years back where four staff writers modded four Pacifica 112s in ways from the sublime to the ridiculous. I scanned it for a friend a while back & I'll try post it on the forum if anyone's interested.

It's ok to have many strats, but havign 3 MIA, 2 MIJ and 5 MIM and then having an Eboness Strat copy is one strat too many...

Most people are really familiar with PAC112s, because they came in starter packs, and they're very cheap. They also have a great rep for such as cheap guitar. But now that the whole production line is winding down, you can find Pacificas from much higher in the range for stupid money. A PAC521 or a PAC512, or even a PAC721 for less than R3,000. Then you're looking at better than MIM Fender quality. The very top ones are definitely a match for MIA Fenders and ESPs, and the like. I still think a PAC112 just smokes a Squier though - unless it's an unusually good Squier.

I'm going to get the same reputation for Pacificas as I have with Tokais ?. I have to tell the world.

You have to upload the scan to a site that allows you to upload and store. Say box.net, or picassa or photobucket.

Then you can embed the URL fo that document into a posting here using the "insert hyperlink" or "insert image" features on the tool bar.

Check it out by previewing before posting - then you know if it worked the way you wanted it to work.

Is it your add on Gumtree? Black RG7 to trade for strat/tele? It looks like the back of the guitar was dipped in white paint and the same finish is continued on the fretboard.... If it's yours, whats up with that?

YIP thats the guitar, previous owner decided to do an airbrush on it....its cool except the fretboard cause it makes me squint ? but it still plays and sounds KILLER
