I have the opportunity to trade my:
ibanez RG 7321 / 7 string / fixed bridge
for
a squier deluxe hot rails strat (made in indonesia).
Would you say this is a good trade???anything i should know about squiers???? i DO own a american strat already but would like another strat ? as I never use the 7 string anymore.
Wizard
If you already have a MIA strat, why would you want a Squier?
MIKA-the-better-one
I would do it, yeh you will love your USA strat more BUT you can mod that squire up alot and not feel guilty.
I want to get my hands on a Jap or USa standard strat and mod it up to a complete beast. The other guy in my band just put 2 humbuckers in his mustang, Which to most is ridiculous.
What i am trying to say is, Do it, then mod it and make it kinda coooool. its hard to do that with an ibanez as its a real health hazard to your eyes :?

No way is that a good trade.
rather find out how much each is new, then compare value from there.

I would never trade an Ibanez RG 7-string for a Squire... If it was a Jap or Mex strat, sure.

Hi
The Ibanez RG7321 retails @ R 5699 and the Squier I am not sure.
Probably are of a similar value...
Cheers, Matt

if he doesnt use the 7 string anymore its a good trade. the ibanez may retail at a higher price but that doesnt make the trade a bad one. The squire is probably better.

Mika I hereby declare your opinion Biased against Ibanez. :?
My hair is a bird therefore your argument is invalid.

?
I wouldn't do the trade

There's also the future saving on opthalmic surgery to be factored into the equation.

I'm not an Ibanez fan at all ... but I don't think it's a good trade either.
Of course all debate is relative to the condition of the guitars. Pictures might help the accuracy of the debate a lot more ?

The way I look at it is this;
have you used the 7 string to it's full potential?
Have you learned all you can from it?
If you are unhappy with it then it can go.
the next questions are,
will the new guitar add something better to my arsenal?
Will it be a forward or backward move?

Since you have a Strat, this isn't urgent. Hold out and get a second Strat later. And don't worry about modding it. There are a million Strats out there. Don't hold back on yours because you're worried you might want to sell it one day (if it was made in 1957 that's another story). Don't treat your guitar like you're preserving it for someone else.
If you're getting nothing out of the 7 string, flog it, and keep the money for that second strat. But a Squier? Why? I suspect it has less resale value than the 7 string because 7 string guitars are rarer. Also Ibanez have a better reputation for quality - even if you're talking about a very low-end model.

true I am no neutral in this discussion

you would have to be mentally retarded to buy a guitar from that site.
Most likely a burmese child who staples his head once a day for good luck would know that the prices on there are stupid

Thanks, I was not too keen at the begining BUT the market for 7 strings just isnt that great at the moment.(for about 2 years now trying to get R2700 for it) I personally dont use the 7 to its full potential and 6 strings are enough for me ?
the 7 literally sits in its case and i will probably never use it.THe lowest i play is drop C tuning which i have an RG 6 string setup for.
I LOVE strats and thought if i cant sell the guit. it would be great to trade for something i would use??

That's a rather extreme way to make your point.

I just checked on the Fender website and the Hot Rails should retail for R4195..

Have you thought for trying to trade for a Mex Tele? I ask 'cause you already have a better Strat, the Tele still has that Fender sound but with a difference to what you already have in your guitar lineup.
