Hi Everyone ,
Nice new forum look .
I own Tom Anderson Drop Top , fantastic guitar .
Anyway , I am looking for 24 frets guitar (DT is 22 frets) in the same quality/playability/sound league , and it seems only Suhr Modern can compete with TAG .

It will be very appreciated if I can met some GFSA member and take a close look at his Suhr Modern , if there is any .

Tom Anderson and Suhr guitars are brilliant instruments for sure! Another 24 fret guitar that is in the same league and many believe superior to a Suhr modern is an Ibanez j-custom, and that's not just because I play one and have another unplayed one up for sale. What I'm stating is based on much research of reviews, communications with my international contacts and participation in international forums where these guitars are compared by owners who sometimes have multiple examples of each. Obviously personal taste comes into play with regards to tone, but quality of construction and components, level of finish and selection of materials is either up there or not...

I haven't personally tested a j-custom back to back with a Suhr modern, but what I can say is that in the 18+ years I've been around guitars, I have never owned or played a guitar that comes close to a j-custom. I did seriously consider a Suhr modern amongst a number of quality instruments and I did a ton of research which led me to purchasing the jc’s instead of the rest. I do not regret my decision for a second! They are truly inspirational instruments! You won’t go wrong with either instrument imo, though. I prefer to reach my own conclusions and I’m not loyal to a certain brand, but if you’re looking at acquiring a 24 fret instrument in the league you’re referring to, I’d strongly advise you to at least try and get your hands and ears on a j-custom as well before you part with your cash… You just may find yourself sharing my enthusiasm for these exceptional guitars…

Thanks for the reply .
Yes , I do agree with you because I also have an Ibanez 7WVH (Steve Vai ) model , with installed Sustainac and SS Jumbo frets .
This is not a J custom , but probably very close and with SS frets even much closer , if you know what I mean .

My main demand here is a neck which should be something between Ibanez 24 frets Wizard neck and Anderson 22 frets even neck , but the must is SS Jumbo's in both cases .
I thought it might be a Suhr Modern 24 fret neck ,that's why my question here .
Judging a neck only by dimensions and size one can find in specs might be not so nice job , so I would like to try it by my self .

My Drop Top is Sweet&Sour Red , mahogany body topped with flame maple , hard rock maple neck with rosewood fretboard , Jescar Jumbo SS frets and OFR . Pups are H1 and H 3 , 5 positions , 6 sounds (push pull split middle ones ) BFTS tuning system .
Also , there is the first ever Tremol-no installed by Tom Anderson .

I hear what you're saying, but theres still a massive difference between a Jem and a j-custom with regards to material selection, build quality, finish, neck and most importantly, tone. (I have both.) When ordering my j-customs I did not expect such a huge difference between the two guitars... The j-custom's neck is hands down the best finished and most comfortable neck I have ever seen or played... It's thin though.. 2mm thinner at the first fret compared to a Jem. Very similar to the original 90's wizard neck. I totally agree that specs and neck dimensions are not enough to go by. You have to feel if it's working for you or not. My j-customs are very similar to your Anderson with regards to materials. Also has Mahogany body with flamed maple top and headstock. Rosewood fretboard with flamed maple binding and 5 piece maple/walnut neck with titanium duel trussrod. When compared to my Jem the j-custom has a much warmer tone with much better sustain. They also resonate a lot more when compared, so its easy to feel the notes instead of just hearing them and the whole guitar 'breathes' (Don't know how to explain it better..) I am in the process of fitting a tremol-no to my Jem for more stability when detuning...

Another 24 fret guitar to consider is a Musicman Petrucci model. The new Petrucci JPX looks like a winner with Mahogany soundboard and chambered body... That one was also on my list, but for now I couldn't be happier with my j-custom.
