Mika, I have a GT-5 up for grabs, you know how good it'll sound through those tube amps!!! Great tone bro!!!! ?
WantzChas
Musicman JP-7 Ball Family Reserve into various amps and combination of amps including a Bogner Extacy, Randall Lynch Box, Mesa Boogie Mark IV, Vox AC30 and multiple effects. And just to top it a Roland Fantom G-8. Those things are just phenomenal.
MIKA-the-better-one
Idno all the ibanez is bad enough tone wise....... to ad a GT5 or 6 or 7 would pretty much be useless, Might as well put a rubber band on a stick and kick it.

Boss RV1 '63 Spring Reverb (in my dream rig I'd have a vintage '63 Fender reverb tank)
Those RV-1s are probably the next best thing if you like tank tone. Roland nailed the tone very well IMO. Did you know Bothners are selling the RV-1 for under a grand at the mo?
And Alan gets his Thanks century ?
Picked it up from Bothners this morning for R995. Not bad considering that these are too new to get second hand. Weirdly enough, despite this being the Boss/Fender series pedal with the most undiluted rave reviews, they had two of these left while the Bassman and Deluxe Reverb pedals were all gone by the looks of it. I guess there's just not that much demand for reverb pedals.
Now I'm basically one tremolo pedal from my dream rig... and poorer.

Isn't that the thing that Tony Levin plays?
Malkav
Tony Levin plays a chapman stick, he also has a stingray 4 string bass that got burnt in a fire - so badly that the machineheads melted to the strings, so now it's only strung with 1 string or something silly like that.
@ MIka - F*** you, Ibanez Rule! (I mean this in a funny way, everyone is entitled to their own opinion) ?
I rate my dream rig is pretty much just a copy paste of John Petrucci's rig or Guthrie Govan's ?
But seriously a Mesa-Boogie Roadking with 4 x 12 clsed back mesa cabs, an Ibanez tube screamer (TS909 - or which ever one it was that had the 4 different modes), Dunlop Crybaby from hell or the rackmount crybaby, Boss DD-20 or DD-7 (I like the idea of having an expression pedal on the delay to control feedback), MXR EVH Phaser with the script function, MXR Double-Shot Distortion, Furman Power Conditioner, some sort of Midi dump module to create lots o patches ?, Korg Rackmount tuner or a peterson one, and maybe a Cornford Harlequin for clean sounds - and a THD hot plate ?
Guitar wise I'd go with Ibanez J-customs with AAA flamed maple tops in dark red bursting out to black, with reversed headstocks, Dimarzio Air-Norton + D-Sonic configuration on a Mega-switch P-model 5-way (made by I Schaller I think) Dimarzio pots and .022 microfarad caps, Lo-pro Edge bridge, satin finish neck in a wide D, 6100 fretwire. I'd imagine the bodies would be some combination of Mahogany/alder with the maple top but to be honest I think basswood does me quite fine as well and I'm not really sure yet which I'd prefer.
Of course I'd need a matching Seven-String in another cool finish and a matching Eight-string with a trem that works. ?
and just for good measure I'd like a Guthrie Govan Suhr Signature ?, and a Richie Kotzen Japanese Signature Telecaster and for an acoustic I'd like a Kaki King Signature Ovation Adamas and whatever the hell Nylon string Mattias Eklundh used in "The Woman In Seat 27A" or whatever the hell Nylon string Al Di Meola uses ?
BTW - Does anyone know where in Cape Town I could maybe get someone to fit a Flamed Maple Veneer to one of my guitars? I know about Foster and Rob Drake but I don't know if they do this kind of thing, also if anyone knows prices that'd be appreciated too ?

Chad, I'll see your ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? and raise you ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
Don't know if I have a dream rig...but I'll wait until I've had a fiddle on a Ratcliffe Strat and maybe heard it through Aubs's JVM before I say that.

Let's see
'59-'64 Gibson ES-335 into Marshall JMP 100W Plexi head running into a marshall basket weave cab wih pre-rola celestions.
For now if I could only keep one guitar and one amp:
My 335 and the blackface super.
Oh I guess I would need a guitar cable as well. ?

2) Guitars: Electric
Ratcliffe Partscaster
Gibson 335
3) Effects: Acoustic
TC G-Natural
4) Effects: Electric
TC G system
5) Amps

No really the only thing worse than an ibanez is an ibanez with 7 strings... really cuz then you have one more string of awful.......
Cannon
Amen to that!!! 8)

Ah, dear sir clearly your ears have not evolved a sense for tone yet ? one day all shall be revealed ?
Seriously though - seven strings are strange ? I mean just their characteristics sonically, it's almost it's own completely unique vibe even when playing on the higher strings, and I'm not just talking Ibanez here. I played quite a few back when I first got my seven string just to see how other brands made theirs etc and they all just have this really weird sound that you recognise after spending a lot of time with them. This is probably just because of body size or something but I found it quite unusual, it's sorta like they're their own distinguishible classification of instrument. You get guitar and then you get 7 - string guitar ? and I'm excited because now I can sound crap to you over 8 - strings ? as soon as I get the R23 995 for one ?

Amps I have no idea....
All I know is that I want a two tone sunburst Stratocaster. Unfinished maple neck, with locking tuners and a fixed bridge. Fitted with very hot, yet classic sounding pickups. All 3 single coil sized humbuckers of course.Pretty much like the Billy Corgan signature Strat, just in a sunburst finish.
MIKA-the-better-one

Yip. Single coil sized Dimarzio Choppers I believe.

Think the middle and the bride on the corgan strat are custom wound for that guitar... ?

Indeed! Appears I was mistaken. Fender lists them as:
1 Special Design Dimarzio® Billy Corgan Single-Spaced Humbucking Pickup (Neck),
1 Dimarzio® Chopper™ Pickup (Middle),
1 Special Design Dimarzio® Billy Corgan Single-Spaced Humbucking Pickup (Bridge)
