LOL, I searched the net for Vintage Vibe and found a guitar place that specialized in sound. I thought that's what you had meant. Wow, what a brainfart. They replied telling me "we can't help you with this." ? :-[ Anyhow, Gareth, can you help me with this? ?

Brainfart indeed. LOL! I actually know him! That's Pete Biltoft, A very good pickup maker in the US (he made the custom humbuckers for my bass).

Gareth, you remember I told you that someone else was using the name Vintage Vibe when you signed up here? That's the guy.

Next week gives me time to do all the fun things - this week was selling the Tele driving up & down the country and doing a COMPLETE rewire of my Strat w/FULL Clapton circuits & pots !

I think I will sniff in 2 Summers Tele ideas this weekend/early week - still O Forum a 2nd-hand buyer's guide

What year is his Tele? I saw him use a ES335 Gibson on the Police Tour for 2 songs.

It's a 1961 Fender. I only wish I had a guitar student who would sell something like thatto me for $200. >☹

Most of the stuff I've read cite the custom tele as a 63 and his famous Fiesta Red Strat as a 61. But I did find an article that says its a 1961 Tele Custom body with 1958 neck ?, so there you go. No exact science here!

That is one nasty Tele. He used the 335 for Murder By Numbers and Everybreath You Take in the set.

He uses the ES for most of his jazz stuff and songs where he wants a warmer tone eg "Bring On The Night" arpeggiated sections.
I think the whole "dating" thing gets very over-rated - unless you're buying/selling vintage.
Between the Strat, Tele & ES-335 you'll get almost all his tones.
Did occasionaly use a 12 string electric live (a sunburst G-man model on "Synchronicity")
Back then $ 200 was probably worth a LOT more !
Tone mostly comes from the fingers anyway guys !

Some years ago I worked out and practised the strum for the song Roxanne,
and developed a huge respect for the man's guitaring.
Consistently precise, leading the band with the rhythm guitar. My hand ached halfway through the song :'(

Thank you for the wonderful read. I wanted to update everyone on the status of my project:

On order:
- Custom neck from Musikraft
- Mint green pickguard from Terrapin
- One-piece select alder body from North Ridge Hardwoods in Washington.
- Telecaster Plus control plate

Received:
- Custom humbucker and single coil from Seymour Duncan
- Brass Bridge (Andy Summers model) from Armadillo
- Eric Clapton midboost PCB

Things are getting underway and the guitar should be completed within the next 8-10 weeks at most. I will keep you all updated! ?
