When can we buy GFSA T-shirts? It would be nice to wear to gigs and to ID the GFSA contingent at TJs etc
NorioDS
Unfortunately, the T-Shirt thing hasn't worked out very well yet. Between getting art files from Peter to finding a printer who will take the orders directly (or finding someone to run orders for the entire country), it's been quite a mission.
I know from doing the jacket + beanie thing that it's not fun so I'm not volunteering but I do want this to happen.
So, ja, I don't have an answer. Does anyone speak to Peter (CornFlakes) regularly? If we can get the art files, maybe we can get movement on this again.

I will ask my wife if she is up to the task. She is home executive so sure she will enjoy the logistical challenge ?
If that is ok with you Norio?
NorioDS
Yep, it is ? Thanks!

And we can offer her a small commission to make it less of a chore and more of a small biz. It won't be huge but it would make it more worthwhile. The main thing is we want to get shirts on backs! We're not interested in profiting on the shirts if someone else is willing to run it for us ?

Agreed, I just had a chat with her and she is keen on doing it. She also just told me she has a friend in the t-shirt printing business ?
I will send you some PM or FB mail to discuss the formalities as well as the images you already have.
Then we will setup a poll again or something ?
NorioDS
No need for the poll, we already know which design to go ahead with. Rest sounds good.

Sweet, I will FB message you tonight ?

havent been on the forum in ages :-[
My suggetion would be to get the logo's from cornflakes or who ever has it, post it on the forum, everyone can download and go and have their own t-shirts made ?
thats what i would do, and actually buy a quality t-shirt to have it printed on.
then no one has worries.
just a suggestion.
peace.
PeteM
+1 Mannie - good suggestion - no distribution problems and costs.
NorioDS
Mannie, we can do both. Those that don't want to bother with organising our own T-Shirts can go via Lean's wifey (that would include me!) and those that want to make their own shirts can download the files and go for it.

Sound good to me. I will also ask wifey to get some prices on warm tops, since winter is around the corner ?
Conrad
OK. Anyone in Pretoria that knows where one can print these without having to sell a kidney?

Is there not a way for GFSA (in the person of Norio or Allan) to reach an agreement with some business that deals in printed t-shirts or other promotional materials to produce shirts and maybe other items on behalf of GFSA.
That way there can be an approved design that GFSA can control (instead of a design the morphs into a fire-breathing demon that is stabbing some politician or rap artist with his fork and saying "this is what Guitar Forum SA thinks of YOU, sucker", when Allan or Norio may not share that sentiment or may wish to keep it separate from the forum). Also the quality of the product could be controlled.
Naturally GFSA would take a cut of the proceeds. Thus these items could help to put revenue into GFSA.

Bob, I feel when this happens the company making the T-s will take their profit + then GFSA profit it will become to expensive.
Just my 2c worth ?

I don't think it's a perfect solution. I think that the solution, whatever it turns out to be, is going to involve evaluating the various evils to see which is the lesser.
It maybe the case that an initial order that will make it worthwhile for the company involved to produce the artwork would make things a little cheaper.
Conrad
? OK but now many people of the public might actually print this on sub standard shirts but maybe it is not that serious plus we only havre cool people on the forum.
NorioDS
Bob, I'm all for controlling the quality of the GFSA image being put out there but finding a company to deal with in the way you describe has been a helluva challenge. They just don't seem keen on dealing with each member. They'd rather one person place an order, and then they deliver to that one person and that's it.
Let's go with Lean's wife doing the T-Shirts for now. If it works, we leave it as-is. If we need to change something, we do that. But first let's test instead of have more analysis paralysis.

I had someone willing to undertake a print on demand thing, but he (quite literally) went nuts and took himself off to Namibia for a year-long holiday, leaving his staff to run the place. ???
I also looked into investing into the equipment as a sideline (my figuring was that we can't be the only site looking for a local print on demand service), but startup costs (printing machinery, T-shirt cost, website, payment gateway, etc...) are out of my reach for now.
I think it's best if we do get one place to make them in one big order - that should keep the per-unit costs down. It's possible, but it's mostly the time and schlep of sorting orders, sizes, packing, mailing, etc.
