Guthrie in SA? Vote!

My brother is looking at bringing Guthrie Govan to SA.This just a feeler to gauge interest and maybe how many people would come. Nothing serious yet. Please vote. (This is after my bro was at one of his master classes in europe and was seriously impressed. Apparently Guthries agent would also like to bring him here, so its a matter of interest and funds etc.)

and he is quite serious. Obviously as noted its just a brief survey. He is still going to approach sponsors etc the works i have nothing to do with. He asked me to just see how many people actually know him and would go to see him on this forum.

I would LOVE a Guthrie workshop, wow.. I would even fly to Jo-burg to be there i reckon! ?

However, I don't think Guthrie is well known enough to be well attended in SA. The questioned to be toll'd would be, who knows who Guthrie is. ?

You never know. Doyle Dykes did pretty well when he was here, despite the person in the street saying "Doyle WHO?". I was amazed when Lloyd Cole sold out a show at the Bass Line in Joeys in a matter of hours.

I think quite a lot of artists would come here if they were made a plausible offer. That would probably have to include guarantees so that the risk is on the promoter's side.

Bit of a no-brainer this. To me a GG workshop would be far more interesting than any live act I can think of. So personally I'd pay a similar price one would pay to see any international act.

I'd probably also fly to JHB if necessary. Nice excuse to also check out the latest at TOMS, Music Connection, Andy's etc. (Significant risk there of the outing becoming seriously expensive LOL.)

I don't think SA guitarist is so isolated and pathetic to do not know who is Guthrie , apart from kind of the desperately ugly and depressive music one can hear on MK-Horsdosis from SA bands .
If you can , bring Govan here , he is one of the best guitarist on the World , and terrific guitar instructor .
There is a World outside SA , btw , maybe we can learn something .

Well man I wish your brother luck in his endeavour cause I know I'd love to see Guthrie in the flesh, unfortunately no company would ever bring him down cause the only agency he endorses in this country is Rotosound and this is just cause he insists on playing boutique amp and guitar brands ? (Cornford & Suhr)

BUUUUUTTTTT what I can say is that the company I work for is going to be bringing down one of Guthrie's friends in October to do a workshop for us, now I'm not at liberty to mention his name cause I don't know if I could lose my job over ruining the surprise, but let's just say it's a laney workshop and I'd recomend that you all stay very freaky for it ?
