Attila I had a thought, we are always talking about Amps, Speakers, Tubes, Cabs etc etc etc, and everything is subjective to ones ear, the environment, the muso etc etc Is/are there any Test or Reference guitar files that one can use when selecting the above that will allow a better form of benchmarking. for example: a recorded, raw output signal (un shaped/EQed un "amped") from say a Gibo LP and a Fender which one can plug in to an amp via Ipod'ish device, when selecting a new amp or speaker or tubes etc. which will become the "control" source signal for your comparison. if you get wot I mean ..... is this doable ? or things for Lab rats
AlanRatcliffe There are no reference files available, but it's not uncommon to record a guitardirect and then use the signal from the DAW to test a variety of amps, speakers, whatever.
TomCat For me "Guitar reference Signal" sounds like an oxymoron...... ? ? Sorry Atilla........Couldn't resist..... One complication is matching the level and impedance of the signal when plugging it into a guitar amplifier. One option is to use a loop station / sampler.
Attila TC you are right it is an Oxymoron, because of the uncalcuable variables - Using a tone Gen isn't the way to do it Alan ......WOTS a DAW ? ???
TomCat Attila wrote Alan ......WOTS a DAW ? ??? Digital Audio Workstation.....Basically and controller and USB audio device attached to a PC.
