What's her style like? Is she just straight-ahead shred?
I do think it's great that a no holds barred woman rock-guitarist is getting a lot of attention. There must be a lot of women out there doing this kind of stuff, but she's the first to get real media attention.
Oh dunno... Lita Ford, Jennifer Batten.
The problem with female guitarists is perception and acceptance. If she's good looking she has to work harder to show that she can really play and wasn't just signed for her looks. If she's not then she gets dimissed as being a growler or a lesbian. Sad to say it's still hard for female players to be accepted just as players in the world of rock.
It doesn't help that she signed for MJ. Well he ALWAYS has a blonde girl playing guitar for him, doesn't he? It's like being in Prince's band - the perception seems to be that any female in Prince's band is there for her looks and because of what she might do for the boss off-stage. Candy Dulfer turned down a gig with Prince because she didn't want to be seen as one of his bimbos (not that Prince himself would have created that situation, but that's the perception).
