"Modulation" reverb

Hey guys

Can I get some insight to what exactly this reverb is doing? It's the one that I miss most from my RV5 and I've heard The Edge use a similar type of effect.. The best way to describe it as haunting/chanty ?

This isn't the SAME but similar (To my ear at least)

Modulation reverb is pretty much what it says - the reverb signal is effected using a modulation effect (i.e. things that go "Whoosh!": chorus, phaser, flanger) to fatten it up and add some movement to the sound. Originally more commonly found on studio delay effects like the legendary Lexicon 2290, and was usually pitch modulation (where the pitch is changed slightly over time - similar sound to chorus).

I didn't listen to the clips, but I know The Edge used to use the Korg rack delays with modulation and now uses The T.C. Electronic stuff, which also has pitch mod.

My comp entry this week I added in phaser on the delay sounds in preference to the delay's built in pitch modulation (GR's delay is modelled on the 2290).

I see awesome man, can always rely on you for answers.. I know that the some of the EH Delay pedals has this built in, but any cheapish alternative besides the RV5 of getting this (Decently at least).

Ah man I didn't even read your post properly.. I'm reconing my best bet to get something like that is a one of those EH Delays. They sound cool ?

Actually, using a touch of chorus or other mod effect in front of the reverb (or delay) is a "cheat" that works very well live. Instead of fattening up just the reverb, it fattens up everything, but that's a subtle distinction that gets lost live anyway.

My T.C. Nova Delay has a very nice modulation section, with the choice of three subtle but different types of modulation.

I would love a hazari ehx pedal, they look way cool, but deep down i know i dont need one ☹
But really they look very fun....
