What's the difference between Northern "Hard" ash and swamp ash BTW?
Hard ash is heavy, hard and tonally very bright. Southern "swamp" ash is a lot lighter because it grows in water (particularly the lower portions of the tree), so when it dries, the cellular structure is a lot larger.
