Hamer - neckheavy

Sean

I recall some discussion about this somewhere but I can't find it. I sent my Hamer to Andy's to have the nut replaced. I only fetched the guitar a month later, so after playing my Squire for that period, I now find the Hamer is annoying me a little. I think the reason is during that month (after some advice from Kiera) I changed my playing position. I now play with the neck in a much higher position. The Squire stays in place, but the Hamer just wants to drop.
There must be other guitars around that are neck heavy, what is usually done about this, I recall in the discussion I mentioned earlier, that using a strap with more friction will help, but will this be enough? Is there anything else that can be done? I love the guitar , this really is the only gripe I have.

As mentioned in the other thread, yes, they are a little neck heavy, but a decent strap helps a lot. If it's really annoying you, you can move the endpin up an inch or so to change the centre of gravity.

BTW Alan I peeled off the sticker that covered the hole (the fact that the sticker said "normal" just didn't do it for me... ?). I'm now thinking of ways to cover it. I was wondering about a nice and large fretboard inlay to cover the hole - I might try my hand at something fancy there. Else perhaps a dummy pot contol knob. But then again, if I'm gonna go through all the trouble to fit a dummy control knob, I might as well install something that it actually controls...piezo's?

LOL! Normal is relative. That's Bumblefoot's "normal" - he's unabashedly bipolar and he complains that "normal" is a very strange state to be in.

I considered a killswitch - positioning (behind the bridge, out of the way) is perfect.

I had to go CrabCore with my Jackson Warrior to keep the neck up!

Okay, just googled it. Checked the first link (Encyclopedia dramatica, hahaha) . Interesting, but not many nice things said about it.
Anyway, don't think I'm going to crouch in a "crab-like position" and play my guitar ?

One hell of a leg workout, and the chicks dig it! Ok ok, my wife nearly smacked me ?

Try a thicker strap, that way you will have more grip!
