Settle a bet for a noob please - Midi and recording

Howdy,

I'm venturing down the slippery slope of home recording. Please settle a bet for me before I loose my GAS money.

Given a laptop with USB, M-Audio uno midi interface and a v-amp2 or Line 6 pod - can or can't you record the guitar into something like Guitar Pro or Propeller head record ?

Edit: actually scratch the fence sitting - I recon not, unless the midi attempts to interpret the analogue input, in which case it will likely end in tears in any case with sloppy playing and bad tuning.

mmmm .. well i have it on the highest authority ( as told by the Sales man .. at the Music shop .. who only wanted to sell me the thing) that it can !!!

However !!! after several Failed attempts to get it working properly on Win 7 put it down to driver issues, and a distinct lack of tallent from my side!

so Justin .... i suspect that u and i now have a R600 buck virtual Amp inteface for changing presets!! .. and i probably owe u some cash for that bet!

? shall we settle this over a Gilroy's Serious at armoureres on Friday?

I'm not sure what propeller head record is. However, it won't work in Guitar pro. Guitar pro would need a midi device, such as a keyboard or midi controller.

The midi ports on the pod or guitar pedals etc are used for controlling the pedal via midi controller.

Make sense?

I think this is right. ? If i understood you correctly, and I explained myself correctly, it is right.

A MIDI interface won't work for audio. If your amp has a USB out (some of the Pods and V-amps do) then you can plug that in to the PC directly to record. Guitar Pro is MIDI only, but Record should work.
