matta Hey Guys, I'm starting to plan an EP I've had on my heart to record for some time, a Hymn's records... traditional lyrics, but modern, interesting music, think Arcade Fire meets Death Cab for Cutie. I really want to feature a Banjitar, which is a 6 string Banjo type instrument, but strung/tuned like a guitar in standard tuning. Anyone here own one I could borrow or rent? There was one on Gumtree Cape Town sometime back, but I wasn't fast enough to get it ☹ Cheers Matt
Fingerpicker Have you tried a Variax (the "acoustic" one)? I use mine to record banjo and a whole lot of other acoustic type sounds. You can just click between 12 string blues/folk guitars, a range of 6 string guitars, sitar, etc. Really useful. When playing in a band you can switch instruments in a second. Should be able to get one from about R4k.
matta Thanks Fingerpicker, I have a friend with a Variax, it is my 2nd option, I just want to to make the Banjitar a feature instrument and when I do that I try and get 'The Real Thing', it is a bit like playing a amp sim instead of a vintage amp for me, while it sounds good, you tend to play into the amp as there is an interaction that occurs with the physical instrument, if that makes sense? Cheers Matt
Squonk Never heard of a Banjitar until today :-[ @ Fingerpicker what model Variax do you have , the 300 or the 700?
Fingerpicker It's a 700, whatever that means... By the way, that Tak of yours sounded pretty damn good at TJs.
