My first flamenco guitar

OK so I wasn't hopeful at first since this is Raimundo's bottom range flamenco guitar but I was flummoxed by this guitar's sound, action and finish so it was an easy choice even over another one that was 4 times this price.
As far as flamenco sound goes, it's awesome if you want a lot of attack and that is what I wanted!!!
My wife is getting her's on Saturday.

He was very impressive. Those of you who missed out missed out.

He mostly played his Smoothtalker "Mbira Tar"

The first number included a percussive package in which he made use of the mbira with the right hand whilst hammering on with the left.

hey congrats Conrad . yes i have played that same model at marshall music ...... if you bought it there i prob played the same guitar ...... they really good value for money and affordable but still have beautiful tone.......and i love the yellow finish ........

Commonly known as "thumb piano".

You can see what like 4 spokes radiating out from the bridge of that guitar. They actually stand proud of the body and are resonant and can be plucked, brushed etc for harmonic/percussive effect.

Early on he did a number where he was alternating the right hand between the strings and the mbira and kept a drone going by means of hammers and pulls with the left hand. Very impressive, and not just technically impressive but also used to good musical effect.

Very, very pleased singe.I am learning more about traditional flamenco rhythms now and you really do need a traditional instrument for most of them. I will still get a Smoothtalker though. Thank you for the advice when I was in a quandary.

I will need a rest from TJs and they will need a rest from me! I am playing at the next two "proper" meets. If you're going to be there then I'll make a plan.

They have a little blackboard on which people write their names next to the "slot" that they want - 9:15, 9:30 etc. If you get there sort of 7 or 7:30 you will get a choice, but if you PM me a preferred time and if you're definitely coming then I will try to see that you get the slot that you want. It's a rather shorter drive for me - about 10 minutes.

If you can get there about 7 you'll probably be able to do a soundcheck as well.

now i'm in pta we must definitely find the time to connect like we always promising ...love to spend some time trying out both our guitar collections ...and hear the tonal differences.... the A/B tests

btw today i visited a friend who owns a 30 yr old spanish built guitar she bought in spain back in '79i forget the name but it's a guitar also from a long family of guitar builders ( i'll sms her and find out ) . it was very interesting a really thick fat neck with a cedar top ....... and a lovely clear but rich tone and having aged for so long (she bought it new from the factory on a trip to spain all the back in 79 ....... ) it's one i'm asking her to leave to me in her will.... or give me 1st option if she ever sells...which she won't ?

btw even after setting up the CG171 with a Baggs and playing it live for last 3 weeks i'm shelving it and reverting back to the vintage guitars...... tones just not what i want ..... "fussy .. i am " (yoda speak )

so yeah you two must be excited to have two new flamenco guitars in the house..........

and the question is......... 1. are they both the same make and model.........??? .it looks like it ............
and 2 do you notice any tonal or feel differences between the two........that always interesting how the same make/model ect even year can sound different........... let me know.......

@Squonk: LOL! I told my wife that those shells should not be in the photo coz it's so freaking neo nazi. She eckoned that no one would notice they are shells. She just likes the way they look with the shiny surface etc. When my grandfather passed away, those things ended up with me. I have no idea why.

@Keira: Wow!! I would love to hear that old Spanish guitar. Yes I was talking to the Tish this weekend. We should meet soon. I'll update you soon. Things are just upside down for a bit for some reason.

@Keira & Squonk: They are exactly the same. We tell them apart by the grain in the mahogany heel. The sounds are slightly different at the moment. Hers is a little more crisp at the moment but that might be coz I was playing the wax out of mine's strings for 2 weeks already.
