Hi Guys,
Do any of you have experience with the little Vox AC4TV Head + 112 Cab?
Aparently the cab uses a Celestion speaker, but I can't seem to find out which one? I played on the combo quite a while back but I really can't remember much about it...
If you have played one, what are your thougts on the amp? Any info on price and where one can find it?

This is it... Great looking amp. ?

I have a AC4TV (not the head) and the 1 x 12 cab.
It's a very nice little practice amp. The built in attenuator (4W, 1W, 1/4W) makes it very nice to get some valve overdrive tones at low volume. I can't see the speakers inside as it is a closed back. But afaik it's a chinese made celestion.
The amp does sound better throught the 1x12 cab and I'm glad I added the cab later. So, if I could do it over again I would've opted for the head and cab option.
The Vox stays clean for more than halfway on the dial and thus takes my pedals with no problem. But that is my setup and will probably differ from yours. (I like it clean and then overdrive it with my CM Drive 'n Boost)
The only gripe I might have is that it lack a bit of definition for me. But nothing a mod or 2 won't sort out.
I got mine from my local shop and paid R2900 for the amp. (They were also R2900 at the time at Music Connection). The cab I added later, I bought it second hand from a fellow forum member.
Just my 2c... ?

Great little amp! The little combos are a little bit boxy sounding, but the head/cab version is great. The only downside is it does not have much clean headroom (especially if you use humbucker guitars).
The V112TV speaker cab hass a custom-designed Celestion driver, the VX12. Good for the money, leaning a bit more to the sound of a Vintage 30 than a Blue (as it has a ceramic magnet). If you want to up the ante significantly in the true Vox tone stakes, get the V112HTV Heritage cab, which is open back and fitted with a Blue.

Mmm, now I'm even more enticed! I'm considering getting rid of my Laney and get one of these little Vox's...and R2900 isn't bad
Just 2 questions CDee: How loud is this little thing? How much did you pay for the cab?
I normally play through a compressor & tube screamer, so if the amp has got a long way before natural break-up then it's fine, the pedals will do their work... ?
CDee
It's not 40W valve power but it is loud enough to bother the neighbours in an apartment when cranked. I normally do not go over halfway on 4W or even 1W.
The price of the cab was something like R1400, can't really remember, it was second hand but in very good nick.
Like Alan mentioned, the cab takes away the boxyness of the combo. Great for practise. But get the head and cab version. Not sure of the price difference.
Do you play with a drummer? Do you gig?

Yes I play in a band (church)... You think it's too small for that type of use? The amps are miced, even if it's a 120W monster...

The AC-4 should do well in a church environment. I believe CDee uses one to good effect.
I tried out my 8W TC amp at church the other day..very similar to the AC-4, just slightly more powerful and it kept up to a live drummer and 4x10 bass amp on stage well.

I've played with mine at church once or twice. Not bad at all, but it must be mic'd up.
