Is Dead Cat Bounce the name of your band? How did you arrive at that name?

Mr Fingerpicker, thank you for the compliment!

We came across the name in a Dictionary, and found we actually quite liked it. Sadly though, about a month ago we were made aware of a band with the same name in Cape Town, who contacted us after they saw our name on the Splashy Fen programme. We had to change it, which was a bugger as the Splashy advertising had gone out under that name and we had a following etc.

But we've just come back from Splashy, where we performed under our new name, The Motherboards. Splashy was incredible.

Oddly enough I had heard of Dead Cat Bounce a while back they came on to the circuit in CT round 2006? I thought you were the same band. Why I remembered the name because one of the guys in my band played the stock market. He explained that when a stock price plummets and starts to recover before crashing completely it's called a dead cat bounce rather like a cat would do if dropped from a large enough height.

Yep that was the other band ?

We're all still in school, the bassist and drummer being in matric and myself being Grade 11.

A mate of mine played for Dead Cat Bounce. They were mainly financial and stockbroking people with an interest in music. They did a fundraising rock and roll dinner evening from time to time. Made a fortune for charities. Not sure what their present status is.

Must have been a real Bummer to have to change names prior to THE BIG EVENT!
