A friend of mine raised her daughters on a steady diet of U2, Pink Floyd, Moody Blues, the Stones and even the Incredible String Band, also bluegrass, celtic folk and ...errmm... Burl Ives.
Her daughters now protest that they have a problem enjoying "normal" music. Though I notice that the youngest has now managed to make whatever mental jumps were necessary to allow her to appreciate Lady Gaga.
