TJs this Thursday - special guest - Steve Newman!

It's TJs open mic night this Thursday, at Marks Park.

BUT we have a special guest. Steve Newman has asked if he could play, and of course TJs have said yes.

Admission fee remains the same. The event is still at Marks Park and it is STILL an open mic night, we just have a 30 minute slot reserved for the guest artist. Other than that nothing else changes. If you want to play then please come on the night. If you want to play BEFORE Steve Newman then get there early or - if you're definitely coming - PM me and I'll see what I can do.

Steve Newman will be selling his new CD on the night.

hey Bob what time is steve going on??? cos i have to teach that evening till at least 8.00 pm maybe a hint later then travel from randburg to get there...

and yeah to anyone who has not seen steve live... brave the potholes/storms/lightnings/car jacking/wroth of your partner.... to be there ........ he's truly a fabulous and world class world music musician....

Remember that despite Mr Newman's presence, this is still an open mic night, and TJs will be prioritising people who have not played there before or for some time.

Bring your acoustic guitar along and have a go.

Because of the potential drawing power of the guest artist, and because the sight lines in the room usually used are not good when there's more than about 20 people, TJs will be using a different room than usual for this open mic night.

When you get to Marks Park you will find that access to the parking is controlled by a boom. Just tell the guys working the boom that you are going to TJs and they will direct you.

He was brilliant. He takes you on a journey, stories of old and then excellent music to go with it. Wonderful! I have quite a few Full HD videos of it. I will try post them as youtube videos when I find the time.

OK, as "host" for the evening I will be getting there early and I will try to reserve a table for GFSA - look for "Guitar Forum" signs on a table.

I just got a call from the lady who handles venue bookings for TJs. Tonight's meet will be in the BOWLING CLUB. The guys at the main entrance to the sports club complex will be able to direct you.
