The next part, just as hard, if not way harder, is coping with the mental side. Because that's what you do, you cope with it. That thought in your brain that will always be there that says 'I like the idea of cigarettes'. I don't believe there is any such thing as beating it. Anyone who has smoked for a reasonable length of time knows the feeling, and there is always going to be a time where your mind has that conversation with itself.
Much harder - still struggle with it three and a half years later - reaching for the 'lighter', almost asking people for a drag or a cigarette. I guess you are always still a smoker once you quit.
