For me, the next major step in this build was routing the neck cavity into the body.
This is probably the most important joint in the guitar and if it is not perfect then you will not get the full potential out of your axe.
I first made a template out of MDF superwood and checked the fit to the actual neck.
The template was then fastened to the body in the area of the neck pickup and the cavity was formed.
The thin strip of wood seen between the template and the guitar is there to produce an angled back neck pocket of 3 degrees. The height of this was calculated previously.
The neck pocket was then drilled out using a forstner bit of required diameter and most of the material was removed before final routing took place.
Finally the neck was fitted. ?
