Asymmetrical V Guitar build! !!!New Stuff!!! (29-03-2010)

I Started building this guitar in November last year and finished it on the 2nd Feb this year. I built every thing from scratch except for the hardware of course. I will try and post as many pics as I possibly can.

I photo-documented the entire build.

Im so proud of him. He is called "Ukko"

One knob on the whole guitar, whaddayathinkitisDonovan? Hint: there will be one little wire from the centre lug of the switch to the clockwise side of the pot, the anticlockwise side will be connected to earth and the jack tip will go to the wiper.....

Good looking work, bet Ukko sounds good, too. The more builders on the forum, the better! From your number of posts I reckon if I didn't spend so much time on this here forum, my Strat would be ready by now.... :-[

Scale Length: 25.5 inches
Fingerboard radius: 12 inches
Body and Neck Wood: African Padauk
Fingerboard Wood: African Rosewood
Frets: Stainless steel
Nut and side Fret markers: Giraffe bone (Femur)
Bridge and tailpiece: Gotoh
Machine Heads: Schaller
Truss rod: One-way compression with brass nut
Pickups: Neck: Seymour Duncan Invader
Bridge: Seymour Duncan Distortion
Electronics: One Volume knob ? and a three way on-on-on switch for pickup selection.

The guitar sounds really good. There is absolutely no shielding on the guitar and amazingly no interference or hum.
It is being played through a marshall amp at the moment with the built-in distortion- \m/

I built this for my brother for his 21st.

Here is the begining.
I first started with a scale drawing that I cut out and glued onto hardboard. I then cut these templates out and used them as my master templates. Not the best material, but it worked. I will be using mdf in future.

I then went on to make a practice "model" out of Jelutong which was too much work for what it was worth however I got to try my hand at routing the neck cavity and also to get the right body shape and curves at the back of the guitar.
