With the recent Pink Floyed thread and now with Abby Road Studios being in the news.....What is you favorite all time Pink Floyed album/song and why?
[deleted]
Why don't you ask a hard question, Tom? ?
My favourite album is probably The Wall...and my favourite songs probably One of My Turns and The Fletcher Memorial Home (just for the solo). Oh, and Careful with that Axe, Eugene.
IceCreamMan
have to go with dark side of the moon
song : set the controls for the heart of the sun
WantzChas
Would have to say The Wall.
Bob-Dubery
I liked Animals for the agression and the power in the guitar playing.
Songs.... hmmm.... maybe "Us and Them". I like the dreamy quality, the dynamics and the sense of confusion and of not being the master of one's own fate.

Hard choice because there are so many good albums and songs.
Studio Album - Wish you were here - The whole tribute to Syd thing made this an excellent album. Especially after the hype around "Dark side of the Moon" which IMO, was a good album, not a great album.
Animals would be a close second
Live Album - Pulse - Gilmour get's some incredible tone, watch the DVD, excellent stuff.
Live Album with Waters - The Live side of Ummagumma, brilliant.
Favourite Song - Without mentioning 'Shine on you crazy Diamond"
I would have to settle for a couple -
"Dogs" off Animals
" Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict" from Ummagumma
" Careful with that axe Eugene" from Ummagumma, brilliant song, used to scare a lot of people with this song
"Echoes" from Meddle
"Childhoods End" from Obscured by clouds
But overall I would give it to "Dogs", at least for this week.

So downright funky in Live at Pompeii! Definitely a highlight for me, too.

As much as I really love their early albums I would have to say the album that still has a major influence on me today is "The Division Bell"
Pulse is an excellent live album.
LMinnie
Would have to be Dark side of the Moon with Comfortably Numb taking #1 away with a balls hair from High hopes. ?
Greenwitch
Mine would definitely be the Wish You Were Here album, with my all time fav song, Have a Cigar. Wish I was the one saying those words. Time and Wish You were comes tied in 2nd place.

When ever I hear a David Gilmour solo, that is my favourite song... ?
Riaan
I'm tempted to say every single album is a favourite, being a Floyd nut. But if I had to go for one album, it probably would be Dark Side of the Moon. I like the raw bluesy guitar work, and of course the theme, being about life/death/time/everything we all experience.
But purely from a guitar point of view, I think the guitar playing on David Gilmour's On an Island CD must rank as some of the best he's ever done, even though it sounds so much different to the earlier Floyd stuff.

What he said
Pink Floyd are one of the few bands that I can listen to albums cover to cover I feel like I am missing something if I skip tracks.

My favourite would have to be the Dark side of the moon album, with Time taking #1 (for the best take on life ever) and Any colour you like taking #2 (for the sheer genius of wright's key board work and Gilmour's tripped out leslie rotary speaker solo).
DaFiz
Dark Side of the Moon and Animals and Wish You Were Here.
Any Colour You Like and Dogs and Shine On You Crazy Diamond.
I can't pick just one... ???
LooneyAtTheGate
Ummagumma is my fave..
You can imagine sitting at a 1960s concert with psychedlic trippy gels and dirty hippies everywhere! ?
Purple
Must be dark side- Have it on LP ?
Song-uhmm.....Breathe

Fave album divides pretty evenly between four albums, depending on my mood: Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall and Final Cut. The rest are just occasional listens.
Favourite song is impossible to narrow down. Some of my faves don't even have any guitar in (The Tigers Broke Free).

I find having a favorite very difficult because the music is so diverse.....It all depends at the time how you are feeling or where you are at.....
Generally Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You were Here tend to be my favorite albums simply because I had them while still at school and listened to them everyday for months.....
I must say that I have not listened to Pulse....something I must do as I really enjoy well recorded live albums.
