Floating Trem Issues

I got a Samick strat style guitar. But when I used the trem I found the D String going mad.

You can see the guide is broken. I got given a new bridge, hoping to just swop it out but I wasn't that lucky, they were different sizes. Even the guides had smaller screws which meant I couldn't easily switch those.

I ended up filing them open more, and even filed the height down to give the screw more grip on the plate.

The new guides have a string through design so I don't have to cut the ball end off.

So now it worked out, after some elbow grease. It's a nice little guitar, now it only needs new pups..

Nice picstory. Glad you came right.

Did you buy the new saddles and then retrofit on to the bridgeplate that you had?

Did the intonation work out ok?

That first pic is downright nightmarish ? I can't imagine how that saddle stayed in place.

Arjun I got the guitar on a trade deal and the guy gave me a whole bridge to work something out. I just modified the saddles from bridge b to fit bridge a. It worked out better because I no longer have to cut the ball end off when I re-string.

funny enough the intonation was bong-on first time. ??? I consider myslef lucky there, just raised the overal action and it plays very smooth. But the neck isn't the Ibanez wizard neck if you know what I mean...
