  • Epiphone back in South africa at Marshall Music

Marshall Music have regained the Epiphone agency for South Africa, for those who are interested in the brand. Saw a whole range of them at Marshall Music Woodmead where the staff confirmed that they have the agency again.
That is interesting, since they pulled out due to Gibson wanting stores to stock more Gibson's than the store could afford!
Whats the price like? This is really good news but I would like to know the price range!
I struggle to see Gibson sending Epiphone in without Gibson as well. :-\
More than likely they found a licensed distributor abroad that sells bulk and is prepared to ship to South Africa. One thread mentioned 10thou for an epi std at Marshalls, which is about the same as Take2's pricing.
I am not in any affiliated to them but it appears they are sourcing direct and not via another distributor, and apparently negotiations are on going for Gibson as well. The price of the Epiphone Les Pauls seem to be in the R 5K range <that is before any discount>.

Give them a call and get the details first hand.

                Agreed.

The sooner Gibson come back with Epiphone the better.

I work at marshall music hillcrest, just outside durban, and i can say that after our branch owner returned from the AGM last weekend, epiphone in south africa is a rumour. It wasn't mentioned to us AT ALL when he got back
Whatever the case, Marshall in Cape Town has a whack of epiphone LPs - going for a bit over R6k - although I only looked at the one hang-tag. That's a price that seems a bit more reasonable for a new epiphone LP. Only about twice what I reckon they're actually worth ?

Save another 4k and get a Tokai, is always going to be my advice. Then you have a guitar that you won't outgrow. Epiphones would be a great beginner's option, if they were priced around R3k brand new.

I agree on the save 4k and get a Tokai. Tokai is far more superior than Epiphone.
That said, I don't believe Epiphone should be branded as a beginners guitar. I had a Epiphone LP Custom, amazing guitar. If the flood did not destroy it, I would still have played it! I will also get one again without thinking twice! There are allot of band's I know that use Epiphone and there music = kick ass ? Just my thoughts ?

anyway, this has piqued my interest as i've been wanting to get my hands on an epi riviera.

anyone know if epi's are available in sa again?

Also quite interested in a casino which has piqued my interest
yeah i'm wavering between the casino (not the elitist) and the signature riviera..
