On the practical side, a good way for n00bs to learn about all the various options, and what people mean by "spalted maple" etc..

Try it. I found it a somewhat superior experience to working.

It's actually a special piece of software called Kiskase - you'll see a version of it on the USA Custom Guitars site too. Kiskase has a web page with dozens of different guitar versions.
