Absolute beauty ?
While you've heard me gripe about the prices of customshop Gibsons, no-one's arguing about the quality. I like that it's just got that slight hint that the newness has rubbed off. Looks lovely.
I've read a fair bit about the tenon recently. There seems to be a fair consensus of speculative opinion ( ? ) that it's mostly just the vintage value. Apparently you get some incredibly alive LPs with short tenons. My hunch from this stuff is that the
fit of the neck is really important. Gibson put up this embarrassing graphic of their standard tenon vs. the long VOS one, and then took it down again once people started commenting on the vast gaps between the neck and body in the standard tenon - gaps that are presumably filled... with glue ???
(the "transitional" tenon is a photoshopped version of the long tenon - couldn't find the original which just shows the "short" and "long" on a quick search of mylespaul)
But the long, custom-shop neck fits hand in glove.
The superior, lightweight back wood probably does a lot too.
