Hey guys I'm thinking of getting a Earvana nut for the Strat that I recently bought...yep the modding has started, I've already fitted some Shaller straplocks. I might also go for some stacked locking tuners sometime. I see there are two options of Strat retrofit nuts available - a 1 11/16" and a 1 5/8". I guess a standard US Strat is 1 11/16"?
I also note that they recommend the nut be fitted by a luthier yet it doesn't seem to be all that difficult? What say you, is this a DIY job or not?

The way I understand the thing is that you need to widen the nut slot on a Fender. DIY job only if you're very handy with a router...
The width is easy: measure the nut and convert to inch. You may need to check if they're listing e to E string width or overall (judging from the sizes you mention, it's overall). The latter would be 43mm, sounds like Strat to me.

No need to widen the slot if you get the retrofit model, which fits in a standard slot and is quite easy to install. Just fit the base in the slot and file down flush with the board then screw the top on to the base. So if you are handy, a simple DIY job.
US Strat should be 1-11/16".
