1. I have 3 X 250k pots. Are these the right values? reason for asking is when i turn the volume knob down completly, sound still comes out of the guitar.
Those are the correct values. Check your path to earth/ground on the pot - that's usually the issue when pots don't turn down fully. Could be a faulty solder joint, could be a pot that's damaged from overheating (or even something as silly as forgetting to hook up the earth - I've done that before!).
2. When i select the neck pick(pos number 5 i think) it is very soft. any idea why?
Tha bassiest setting? It should be the loudest position unless the pickup height is way low. Check your pickup selector isn't backwards by plugging in to the amp with the volume low, set the switch to each position and tap the polepieces with a screwdriver tip. You'll soon know which pickups are on in which position.
3. I 've noticed that i was sold two bridge and one neck pick -up as a set.Not sure why.i just replaced the neck one with a bridge.
Neck & middle should be the same and the bridge a hotter pickup. Are you sure it's not that way round? If you have been given two bridge models, take it back for exchange.
So you need to check the switch is not backwards, that the right pickups are in the right positions and that their heights are adjusted for equal output. Finally, double-check all your wiring and solder joints.
