Why do I suck at Guitar Hero????

Played Guitar Hero for the first time tonight.
It was Guitar Hero 5, and of course because I play guitar I was forced to have a go.

I was shocking, I at least thought my coordination would be better.
I had a go at two songs, "Smells like teen spirit" and "Sultans of swing". Even my wife got further than me and she listens to Westlife!

Young wives of today, just don't know there place! ?

I think you have the same issue as me ( not that it's a problem ) . We listen to the song and because we play guitar, what we hear and where the fingering should be on the game does not make sense to us and we then try and play it the way it should be.

If so then I wouldn't worry about it. Besides, you can play real tunes on a real guitar.

If I gave you a knife and fork shaped like a guitar and tell you to eat a meal, would you try play the guitars and hope the food somehow reaches your mouth?

Dont play guitar hero like you play guitar. You have to treat it like any other TV game...

I agree...

I found that when playing fast we don't pick every note and thats stupid things expects you to pick every thing.

It also doesnt reward creativity so you HAVE to follow it or you suck. I wouldn't waste anymore time on it though, I'd much rather play the real thing.

Most probably the truth! I was thinking of the rhythm, I mean how hard is it to play "smells like teen spirit", still didn't work.

I think my brain was processing how I play it on guitar and confusing it with the game.

I have to almost confess that it was quite addictive ?

It's the same reason why you might suck at Isle of Man TT or World Superbikes, yet be able to lap Kyalami at race speed on a superbike.

It's a game with very little in common with reality.

Congratulations - you can play a real guitar.

For those who beat you on GH, give them a real guitar, pick one of the songs and say....Follow me.....and see how far they get..... ? ?

I have played it lots. Fun game while drinking. Even on Expert, if you know how to play a song, it's annoying cause it's so different from the real thing..
