Sadly, that is not the point .....it's so sad to mutilate a musical instrument...check the Les Paul above....what's in the mind of someone who does that..?
To play it. It's quite a different proposition from using it as a lamp. If they'd sawn off the headstock, fitted a socket, run flex up the truss rod channel and used the pickup selector for an on/off switch THEN we'd be talking ???
Where does one draw the line? Somewhere short of what happened to this Maingard for sure, but changing bridges, routing out for non-standard pickups, fitting whammy bridges etc seems to me to be acceptable - even it it might reduce the investment value of the instrument.
