I'm faced with somewhat of a dilemma..or maybe i'm just being a knob lol
My board is as Follows: KORG Pitchblack tuner -> Rocktron Big Crush Compressor -> Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer -> BOSS Distortion DS-1 -> BOSS Metal Zone MT-2 - AKAI Head Rush L2
I'm mostly into symphonic black metal and was wondering what to get next (and something that's available, I don't want to ship). Also, most of them were offcuts from my dad's loop so yeah, nothing too pricey. And is the order i have it in correct?
I'm using a PRS SE Paul Allender and a Roland Cube 30
I'm somewhat of a noob but not completely clueless?
Any Advice/Suggestions would be appreciated ?

Well is there any tone or effects you want to get which you can't get with the stomp boxes you've got? If you can get all the tones you need with these pedals, why add to this, if you follow my drift. Stomp boxes can become an expensive hobby/GAS driven need. I prefer keeping things simple. You need a tuner, maybe a wah, good distortion/overdrive pedal and then you get to speciality effects. Your amp will be the most important part in the chain. I have heard good things about the cubes. If I can give you advice, get something in the palce of the MT2, I had one and you can do better.
Good luck!

hey, yeh save on pedals and get a better amp........ kind of a crappy suggestion I know. But good sound starts with the amp. Also check how you power your pedals, and patch cables inbetween?
I dont know about Rocktron pedals being much good, maybe replace that, if you are on a witch hunt for a replacement.... maybe geta wah, or a better comp.
But in my truthful opinion invest in a new amp....... cubes are cool but real tone etc lies in valve power!!!
Gearhead
The one addition to your board that would help (although I agree for a change with Mika, amp first) is to get a gate. (I am not very knowledgeable about metal but I do know? when it gets tight and staccato, you can't get away with searing high gain because it won't stop squealing quickly enough. Enter the gate: you stop playing, dead silence kicks in.
TomCat
+1 Gearhead on the gate.
If you are looking at more versatility also look at a good delay unit which can be used to thicken up your tone or add a bit more space to your sound.
If you need more crunch, or a different kind of crunch you can look at the MI audio Crunch box or a Pro-Co Rat.

I have never used a gate I guesse because with my music I dont need it, but yes this would be a good buy, however just like when I bought my tiuner, it seemed like such a boring purchase as it did nothing cool, yet is so so so essential

Gate. Wah. Done.

Bigg Muff Pi.

Dud,think he's got the delay covered with the head rush, +1 for the wha man...
Big muffs are awsum...but I don't know if its gonna work for that type of metal?
MIKA-the-better-one
nah big muffs are for guys who rock but at the same time are cool ? its a elusive fuzz pedal that onl few can harness
Most def for your music maybe try the METAL MUFF~~!!!
Vick
Friendly warning:a metal muff creates more hum then a mosque...
matta
The Metal Muff is indeed a terrible pedal... the build quality is shocking at best and I'm gutting one for a client and putting in a Mesa type preamp circuit... a much better alternative!

wow...I'm shocked at the nuimber of replies ???Not even international forums are that good ?
Much appreciated guys.
Amp is not too much of an issue as I can use one of my dad's other amps (line6 spider 3 + fender deluxe reverb i think) should i need to
I was thinking perhaps a chorus :-[lol or a better compressor
another thing - cables for them. I want some decent ones.Buy or make? where would I get them and roughly what would they cost?
Thanks again ?
I've attached a pic of the board. excuse the poor quality.crap phone camera
MIKA-the-better-one
deluxe reverb for heavier music wont sound to sweet, i dont think........ I usedto own a mxr stereo chorus, it was really cool, I did sell it in the end, but it was a good chrus none the less...... I found if you want cheaper effects those ibanez tone lok pedals are decent, and make some pretty crazy sounds in the flanger phazer, dept
Vick
Think the spider will work for the metal stuff??
and when you upgrade to a nicer amp, then you can always use the presets to get an idea of what you want to upgrade to...
But back to the pedal thing....
The MI audio crunch box is awsum,I have one and it cn be used for like almost anything...
If your allowed to,think about selling both the bosses, add. A little cash and then get one...
With effects,a good OD,distortion or fuss will be the foundation of the tone youl be abel to get ot of your pedal board...
t a idea of what sound you'd like

What do your heroes use?
What do my heroes use?
The point is look at the units that most successful bands use, and take your time in investing in this. Truthfully your pedals will have to change and you have to invest in a decent valve amp, although Cube amps are great.
You like metal? Ok, acts like KORN/ LIMP/ BIZKIT /MUSE /ARCH ENEMY/ Chris Cornell etc. had the following on-stage at the coke fests worldwide: (search on-line first and listen to the albums and check on wikipedia)
Digitech Whammy pedal
Line6 delay modeler/TC electronics delay
Jim Dunlop Wah
Big suggestion is Ernie ball's Volume/expression pedals.
Use your amp for distortion! So, invest in a good VALVE amp.
from there you move onto your boutique selection of compression and distortion units, which is expensive so take your time.
