Spyke with a 66.7% positive feedback...? I think not. I'm no expert but i think even $75 000 would be too much.
AlanRatcliffe Yes it can be real, but the seller is way too optimistic, especially in the current market. The D45 is top of the range and a new one retails at over $10,000. 1930 - 1941 ("prewar" or "Golden Era") Martins are the most desirable. Consider that Joan Baez' 1929 045 (the smaller bodied version) has been valued at over a million USD and you realise that $750K wouldn't be too far off the mark for a '40/'41 D45, which is the more desirable dreadnought model. HOWEVER - From the serial number, it's actually a 1942 (a "Wartime" model), which is not anywhere near as desirable. Even if it were a 1940 model it would need a good going-over by a pro to make sure that parts had not been replaced or refinishing carried out at some time, which would affect the value greatly. The seller has only three trades in the last year and one was bad, but he was a buyer for that one. In these kinds of situations you don't take things at face value anyway. If I were a serious buyer, I would arrange to meet at George Gruhn's place and get it verified in my presence before handing over the money anyway.
Riaan Would have snapped this up, if it wasn't for the fact that I already have a nice Cort acoustic and too many guitars actually... ?
MiKeZilLA Yeah space is such an issue don't know where i'd possibly put it definitely gonna have to pass ?
sepheritoh Alan, that's very interesting information. R6 mil for a guitar, even if it was made from Robert Johnson's spit would be a very steep price in my budget. I'll leave these bargains for Riaan & MiKeZilLA to grab ?
