Please tell me it won't fit in a Les Paul standard so I can get some sleep and stop dreaming up options I won't have a clue what to do with ???
Seriously though, I quite like the idea of a rotary. They have a 5 way, but the dimensions are the same. Any ideas if it can fit ? I'm out of town at the moment so can't measure up, but I get the feeling the hole in the top is a little big for this to work out the box.
I haven't tried it, but it should fit - the standard Switchcraft toggle takes up a large space too and needs a 12mm hole through the top. Even if it doesn't fit, I'm sure you can source a smaller switch - rotaries come in all shapes, sizes and configurations.
The big thing to consider is the PRS style switching needs four conductor wire on the pickups to work, so If you only have the vintage style PAF pickups and wire, you'd have to modify the pickups or change them.
My biggest problem with the four pole rotary switches is the knobs. Chicken head knobs are ugly IMO and nothing else gives a clear indication of the switch position, which I find is crucial to performing with a guitar (especially in the low light situations often found on stage).
