Need help Identifying Ibanez Model
SpeedStar
Hey people
I just put a deposit on a Ibanez electric guitar, that I found in Cash converters, for a steal of R800. Unfortunatelly she has seen better days,
but I'm looking to restore her to her former glory.
I need some help finding out which model it is, since its been removed or faded. Here are some specs:
Std Black Finish
Roadstar Series (6-String) Not Roadstar 2
Pointed Headstock
1pc Neck (Beautifully Slim) 22-frets (Rosewood Fingerboard)
"Ibanez Made in Japan" (Marked on the back on the little silver plate where the body and neck are joined)
H-S-S Pickup Config (Ibanez Vintage sticker on Bridge Humbucker otherwise no other markings on Pickups)
Volume and Tone Knob
5-way selector switch
Floyd Rose Tremolo unit
I'm guessing the year of production is 1985 or 1987
I don't have any pics yet, didn't have a camera in the store.
I thought it might be the discontinued RG-404 or the RG-250, but the finish and Trem systems are different.
Once I have her, I'll have the body repaired, put on a new Floyd Rose, change the pickups to Dimarzio Evolutions, and do a few other touch ups. Despite the fact that its over 20 years old, the fretboard and frets look almost new (Seems like the previous owner banged it up more than he played it.)
Any help in Identifying this Japanese immigrant will make my day, Thanks.

The older Ibanez Trems are shocking.

Do you mean those "HardRocker" or whatever you call them trems? They do look cheap and crappy.
