Ray the levee's gonna break. They say it has already. Hope none of the folks here from the vaal side have had problems.
Gearhead I'm not crossing the bridge between Vanderbijlpark and Vereeniging at the University anymore, that thing should have fallen over years ago. We have suppressed the tendency to go and watch how other people's houses are washed away, but I'm guessing there are some. I'm not so sorry about the rich people's boat houses and gazebos at the Vaal (rebuilding them will create employment), most of the larger places are well away from the water. Had the levee broken through, you would have not had any bridges left so I imagine it's down to overflowing across the concrete parts. People talk about rain; I think in reality the land works like a sponge, only releasing the rain slowly. So even if it were to stop raining, the dam would still fill up at a rapid rate. I do not understand why they waited so long to start scouring, 100% is full and 115% is asking for trouble.
Heath This is still not as bad as the 97 floods on the vaal , actually no where close. But if it doesn't stop soon , it will become a huge problem .

NorioDS All this rain for us and George/PE/etc are having a pretty severe drought. We needs a big fat pipe from the Vaal to them ?
Gearhead Or give Katze Dam another outlet tunnel. I wonder if they have already closed off the supply to the As Rivier...
