I put 3 different alarms in different, hard to reach places in my room. One is on top of my bookcase, one on my spare bed, and the last one right next to my head. Then what happens is normally that I sleepwalk around turning them all off. I don't know how I do it, but I swear I never wake up, it's all automatic. Yesterday I woke up 3 hours late for class, and had turned them all off without even knowing it. >☹
I have similar life skills. But I can have entire, coherent conversations with my wife without waking up. I think it comes from being permanently short on sleep. I've always had a talent at sleeping.
I don't so much fall asleep as switch off - one moment awake, the next asleep, and it can happen almost anywhere, in the car, at my desk. My mother always teased me for the time as a kid that I fell asleep while crossing the road - not only that, but that I slept through the articulated lorry's horn that alerted her to the fact.
