solid top or not

Something that has bamboozled me a bit over the past year or so that I been keen on guitar is the way guitars are specced. Yissis I dont know how to spell that. You get there and they say spruce top or whatever and then you get to another guitar and they say solid spruce top. so, I have come to understand that if they dont say solid then it isnt. Why dont they say laminated spruce top and then for solid just spruce. It's not important but it's something I've wondered about. I am looking toi buy a resonator of sorts and scouting around on take2 and found these oscar schmidt by washburn jobbees and they talk about mahogany top back and sides so at this stage I assume it is laminate which shouldnt be too much of an issue with a resonator ne?

Ray, I'm no expert on acoustic guitars. Sure Bob or Keira will have the perfect answer to this.

I did not own a solid top guitar until about 4 months ago. The difference is huge to me. My previous guitar (not a solid top) were great to learn on.
When I bought my first solid spruce top guitar I got knocked over! The sound is just so rich and full.

Go and try one of both!

Can't be much help here I'm afraid. I'd assume that the cone assembly and the bridge is more important for this kind of guitar than the wood.

Back and sides are only a small factor on the tone of any acoustic and much less so on a resonator guitar, unless you are comparing a wood body with an all-steel body.
