I sold my Stratacoustic to Gearhead last year. I popped in at Bothners and picked up a spare cardboard guitar box. Then I packed the guitar, in it's gig bag, into the box and added a few strategic bits of bubble wrap to the headstock, endpin and sides. I sent it via Speed Services from CT to Jozi, insured for 3k, for R100!
There were no issues and it arrived quickly if IIRC.

I've used Speed Services too with no problems. FedEx and UPS I've had nothing but problems with (although the Tokais I'm waiting for are coming FedEx 24 hour express, so they might redeem themselves yet). I was Impressed with Berco - Brent sent me a parcel from JHB and it was here under 24 hours later (and bear in mind I'm closer to Cape Agulhas and Hermanus than I am to Cape Town).
