Replacing Pots on a Strat

I bought 3x250k CTS pots with Mattas Mojotone order with the idea of swopping out my Vol/Tone/Tone as they are insanely dirty and even after a good clean they lasted about a week before returning to noisy again. Pulled off the pickguard and it seems I currently have a 500k vol and I think 1000k Tones?

Measured all 3 of my new CTS 250k pots, they measure 263k 264k and 244k, should I use the lesser for vol and other two for tone?

Value wise that won't really make a diff. However the taper will make a difference. So either the vol or the tone will go from on to off very quickly, being more like a switch than a control. I'd recommend finding out which this is and then replacing those pots with the correct taper.

I however have heard some (few rather) people prefer log tapers for tone (although not correct technically) so maybe ?

All well within spec and even 6K down is fine. I would put one of the higher value pots on the volume control and the other on the neck pickup tone. The lowest value I'd put on the second tone and move that tone to the bridge pickup instead of the middle to make it warmer (especially with the ceramic mag pickups, which can be a bit icepicky on the bridge position.

I put the highest one on the vol knob, excuse the terrible soldering on the pot base, it didnt stick and then the solder sucker wasnt doing its job and I was worried Id melt the pot insides if I carried on trying to remove the excess. Note to whoever is doing this, you'll need a 10mm drill bit as the stock pots are about 9mm and these have a 10mm thread on them. 8)
