Ok so now comes the difficult part, figuring out what exactly I'm going to pay for this axe-fx unit..
They dont ship to SA so I need to use a myusaddress account to get it shipped.
However, I need to know what kind of hit i'll take at customs.
I've checked the SARS website, which turned out to be totally unhelpful.. No surprise there.
I called customs, only to get shunted from dept to dept and finally having my call cut. Twice.
From what I gather the formula is (cost of item plus duty) plus VAT?
Has anyone got any experience with this?
Also, does the shipping cost get included in the cost?

It all depends on that harmonized code your supplier ships the item under, some are exempt from duties (microphones for e.g), other, not, like musical instrument parts/amplifiers etc, which have a 7.6% Ad Valorem duty, so take the cost of your item, add 7.6% of the value onto it and then 14% VAT.
SARS is actually VERY helpful, you just need to know what to ask for... if you had a harmonized code they could have looked it up in a few minutes.
