the dude smiles a bit too much , but hey , i would too if i could play like that
LOL! Definitely!
I've found that the guys I like listening to (Andy Timmons, Satriani, Gustavo, Eric Johnson) have 2 things I really admire and that, to me, make their music amazing...
- Their note-selection
- What they do in between notes
All the technical playing in the world, IMO, can't match up to good note-selection and the feel that comes from the little trails, harmonic notes and things that these guys use to sort of fill in the gaps. And I'm not saying you need to fill in the gaps to sound good, no, selection of silence is damn important. In so many ways, for a musician, it's more important to know when to shut up entirely. Let what you've already said (or played) really hit home before you play another note.
Man, I just love music. It's so much fun to listen to, talk about, play. Aren't we all just lucky buggers for being able to do this?!
