NorriRock - Revisited (Help with Wah-Wah selection)

I'm trying to figure out how to get that sort of wah-wah sound. I've got a Morley Wah but it just isn't cutting it. Should I look more towards the Dunlop cry babies?

For those of you wondering, this sound comes from a wah-wah patch I used when I used to record using my PC. It's probably the best tone I've ever gotten out of myself/my guitar/my pedals.

I'm also very sad because I can't play like that any more. I'm totally out of practise but, anyway, this is about the wah-wah sound ?

You cant go wrong with a cry baby, I really like the Buddy Guy wah wah, it sounds so sweet, no nastiness as with some wahs.

I dig the "blue", deep, throaty mode. The "red" mode sounds very similar to my current Morley wah which isn't doing it for me.

Sooo... any similar wah that does the blue mode without the other mode. I don't see the point in having both if I only like one ?

The deep is more like a good Cry Baby to my ears, maybe a little wider range and a bit sweeter on the top end. The red is a bit too narrow and tuned a little high for my tastes.

Ja that's what I'm feeling about the red as well. Biggest complaint about my Morley is how narrow it is - thanks for giving me a word for it ?

The demos I've seen of straight Cry Babys don't quite match up to the blue on the Buddy Guy so maybe I should give that one a shot. Besides, it really does look cool ?

I mentioned it before but I've got an old Aria wah that does not sound like its brothers and sisters - maybe it got dropped on it's head in the factory... it just sings. I find dunlops unwieldy to rock. Since I've been happy with mine for yonks I haven't kept up with developments... any difference between trad and laser?

I'll record something when the kids allow, whatever you do don't go by the clips on youtube - I did a quick search and they sound as bad as you'd expect. So, let me make clear - I wouldn't recommend an aria unless you come across one that tickles you. I would take a packed lunch, your axe and go play at Marshall Music or one of the other biggies and find the one that matches the wah in your head the closest... As a matter of interest was the wah wah patch you used modelled on a real pedal?

I'm very happy with my Dunlop Zakk Wylde wah.

JF Jr, it was a patch of some sort. Autowah patch thingie. My wah-wah playing still needs plenty of practise before I can pull that kind of thing off ?

Joe - yummy! Lekker growl, nice range. Deep with nice highs. Oooh my likey. Also looks like it could take a beating!

Okay, so how much does one of these Zakk Wylde babies cost? I want it to have my children ?
